Looking for new car

Hey,
Been looking for an LS1 WS6 for the last few months, but now with the parents breathing down my neck, I have had to change my plans for another f-body for something more 'effecient'. So I have been considering a 2001-2006 Monte Carlo SS, non-supercharged (can't get premium anymore, parents orders...) I know my way around cars, as I have had 2 LT1 Z28's and done most of the work on them myself. Before I go looking, just need to know what are some of the common problems with these cars and what I should look for when test driving and checking these cars out. Thanks.

Re: Looking for new car

Actually, these cars are really reliable, IMHO partly because the basic design remained in production long past the point where it was a competitive design. (and thus all the bugs were removed long ago).
If you are familiar with GM's front drive platforms you should feel right at home.
They may not quite have the refinement of an Accord but they are cheap to buy and are reliable.

Go for the 3.8 V6. The base 3.4 seems to have some intake manifold leak issues.

Be sure to always torque the wheel nuts with a torque wrench to manufacturer's spec to avoid warped rotors.
