Firebird Engine Swap

Hi. I'm a 17 year old kid and I don't know much about cars besides I want a manual Firebird that is fast.

My plan is to buy an older F-body Firebird (93-96) manual 5-speed, w/ a lot of miles on it so I can get it cheap. Next I want to swap the standard V6 and put in a newer LS1 Corvette engine. Can anybody help me by giving me some advice on if this is a good idea or not and what I'm looking to pay overall for this type of project.

P.S.
My original plan was to get a LT1 Trans Am, but it is too damn hard to find a manual around here and I thought this might be a little cheaper anyways.

You'd have to replace the engine, gearbox, rearend, and probably suspension bits.

In other words: cheaper to buy Trans Am.

yep, just buy a LS1 car, the rear will work but the driveshaft will have to be from a LS1 car, as well as everything else mentioned, it's really just not worth it.

I know your lookin for v8 power but something i did was replace the 2.8 with a newer model camaro 3.4L which bolts right up to the transmission as the 3.4 is basically a bored 2.8. Its pretty good but i still ached for a V8. Oh yeah and there is a bit of a reliability issue concerning the differentials of hard driven T/A's, i was taking apart a T/A recently (the owner DROVE the car, but did mess around) and when i got the diff out and apart, most of the teeth on the ring gear were EATEN, like seriously chewed, so i dunno if its a major problem but ask around.
