328 GTS info

Total production: 6068 cars from 1985 to 89

Engine: as in 328 GTB i.e.: 3.2 V8 270 hp
0-100 kph: 5.7 secs
(0-60 mph: 5.5 secs)
top speed :270 kph (168 mph)

Many speculators bought them in the late 80s for double their list price and were stuck with them after the market bombed. Hence 14 years after the end of production you can still find perfect examples with just a few thousand klms/miles on the clock. Many people just kept them with as little use as possible and hoped for the market to pick up - or at least lose as little as is reasonably possible after having payed ridiculous money.

In Europe you can find in the ads perfect cars with below 20k miles for 50000 euros/dollars and very good ones with 35000. A steal to buy but a fortune to maintain!

Re: 328 GTS info

I've been eyeing these Ferrari (love to have one, especially red) but don't know much about them. What's the difference between 308 and 328? GTB and GTS ? And then... Targa ?

Go for it. If you don't care about the open roof (GTS) better get a GTB (fixed head) as these are more rigid and look better. Also much rarer if you care (about 1 GTB to 6 GTS worlwide).

A targa is just a term (first used by Porsche in the 60s) meaning you only can get the top part of the roof removed (2 pieces) - there are rear pillars/window.

A 308 has a 2.9 V8 and slightly different style and mechanicals. Go for its succesor the 328 3.2 V8 which is way better and faster.

Re: 328 GTS info

The front and rear facade on the 328 is much better looking than the 308 in my opinion. The 328 has somewhat of a grill below the hood. I forget right off hand the difference in the rear.

Re: 328 GTS info

The difference at the back is the different bumpers (smoother design on 328's) and the black grill at the bottom of the 328 out of which the exhausts go through (in a 308 there's nothing around the 4 exhausts). Also there's a discreet roof spoiler on the 328. Oh, and I forgot that you could have the bumpers/spoilers painted body colour on 328's (and most are like that). Other than that bodies and lights are identical. I myself find them equally pretty but prefer a 328 due to better performance (also more reliable).
