What is the proper oil?

Okay im a lil confused, i have an 02 TB LS I want to change my oil but im having a lil problem i go to a autoparts store and im being told i need to put some synthetic oil, but if i look in the manual it states i need regular oil 5w-30. which is the correct oil for my vehicle?

Any good grade of 5-30 whether it is synthetic or not is ok.

Synthetic has MANY advantages, do a GOOGLE search on it.

Mobil 1 is probably the best all around quality synthetic out there.

well then guys thanks for your help. think i will go with synthetic and mobil 1 probably looking into amsoil oils since i deal with them at my job.

I use Moble 1 full synthetic and am very hapy, actually noticed the engin running smoother (could be me just trying to justify the cost of the oil though). I have also heard really good things about the Royal Purple oil, just cant justify 8.00 per QT.
