Mounting parts for spraying

Fazer on board!(with a couple of tips)
GA_googleFillSlot("Forums_ROS_300x250_noad"); Hi Guys,
After browsing these pages for a while & I am totally knocked out by the top standard you guys are building & painting too!
So now I am back on my bikes after a while away I thought it is time to post my humble attempts. So I will start with a couple of tips (joel Widequist has used this first one!) on mounting parts for spraying the part is arkward to clamp. The idea is to use left over sprue from the box & find a decent length to use as a handle. I found this out whilst making some squash casting of electrical boxes (but thats another tip to come!)
So Borrow or pinch the wife's tea light & heat up the end of the sprue until it is 'glossy' see the photo of the reflection in the plastic. don't get the end sooty as this will stop it sticking to the part!

next, push the molten plastic gently against the part you want to hold where it is hidden (don't want to deform your part!) & hold it until it go cold ( a few seconds)

For my next trick will be to improve the chain as supplied with the kit in my next posting!
And there you go, held whist you play with it (spraying, grinding etc!!)

When you have finished, a quick twist & it will come away without breaking your part.
Please practicethis first, guys, I would'nt want any nasty surprises

So for my next trick, I will improve the chain as supplied by the kit

Re: Another one keeps moving forums??

Hi Joel
I am building a few bikes (yam M1 Rossi, Spiderbike & Kawasaki 12RR) at the moment in various stages but some other commitments are taking priority.
I have a couple more helpful tips coming up on exhaust springs & also electrical connection boxes as I finish some photography so watch this space.
I have posted these 2 articles twice now but they seem to revert to the car modelling forum for some reason? Strange
Mark

Mark
The items you posted in the Work In Progress section were moved to the main forum where they belong. The subsections are for build diaries, anything to do with technique belongs in the main modeling section.
