wutz up all,
First I will like to inform that I have 2001 monte carlo ss. Two 5 1/2 door speakers and a pair of 6x9 speakers in the rear. I have installed the dynamat door kit to both my doors, the sound from installation I am pleased with . Now, BEFORE I have installed it in the rear for my 6x9's, I had some good bass (not looking for the speakers to act as subs) coming from the speakers BUT, when I installed the dynamat the bass is only inside the car instead of me feeling it from the outside . Why is that? Don't get me wrong, the sound in my car is nice but the vibration has been shield and only thing you can hear is my highs (when the window is rolled down). I was wondering if I was too insulate my trunk with dynamat for my subs (I guess to elimate the rattling the subs will create while in my trunk), will I have the bass that will turn heads or the bass no one will even know I have any subs in my trunk? Is it worth the dynamat installation in my trunk?

Re: Dynamat bass worries
When you have bass that turns heads its because the sound leaks out of your car. Dynamat keeps it inside the car, making it louder inside, with less vibration.
If you want to have a vibrating car that you can hear from a block away, go ahead. If you want deeper bass and no annoying rattle, get the dynamat. |

Re: Dynamat bass worries
Basically, your saying dynamat insulates the sound and bass inside your car?
If i want to be heard a block away "don't put the dynamat installation in my trunk"? |

Re: Dynamat bass worries
Pretty much. Keep off the dynamat if you want the sound to be heard from afar, get the dynamat if you want to keep down rattles.

Re: Dynamat bass worries
ok, I had to clean this up ... please refer to EULA you agreed to when you sign up. You can disagree with someone's point of view but no personal bashing or foul language.
For the OP .... yes, the dynamat keeps the sound inside the vehicle (where it belongs IMO). Of course there is a LOT of stuff you have to do be heard from "a block away" |
