new door, wiring help
hey ford guys... ive never posted in here before. my friend got a new door for his 99 taurus. the door is from a 96. the window does not work at all, no motor turning, no clicks nothing. i believe he said there is a different amount of wires in the doors clip as opposed to the cars clip for the window motor. we were wondering if this is the problem, if so what we need to do to fix it, or if the motor itself is bad.
ps it is the front passenger door thank you |

Re: new door, wiring help
If you've replaced the door, you certainly know how to get the door panel off, right? Pull the door panel and see if there is voltage to the power window motor when trying to operate the window. Do other features work such as the power locks in that door and the power mirror?

Re: new door, wiring help
ya i know how to do that. and ya the locks and mirrors work. everything except for the window is perfect. we have yet to test the voltage that was our next guess. he just said that there was a different amount of wires in the clips so we assumed that was most likeley the problem

Re: new door, wiring help
I started to take a look at the wiring diagrams, but there are a lot of wires that go to the doors. I decided it wasn't worth my time to review both diagrams for any changes. Checking for voltage to the motor was a quicker answer, and one that yield better information anyway. Even if there is a difference in wiring, it may or may not be significant to the power windows.
