99 cougar 2.5l 5spd mount question..please help

what is the mount/bushing that is located directly under the air box called?
is that a transmission mount,motor mount,some type of bushing etc...
its about the size of a sods can {a little smaller and fatter}.is this called a transmission anchor mount.and what does it do? would it make my car shift hard when changing gears,would i have clunking noises in my front end because of it etc.....any help would be appreciated

This is the trans mount.

Yes, if the trans mount is poorly secured to the trans, you can experience notchy engagement and clunking.
