Auto Transmission fluid Qs, please help!

I have got a JDM 91 1.3 carb civic with auto transmission, I noticed that there is jerking when downshifting and it has a bit delay when i shift up, is it because of transmission fluid?

Also when i checked the transmission fluid, its way above the indication of the dipstick, its above the FULL sign, should i drain some out?

Your supposed to check the fluid level while the car is running.

When the fluid is cold, it could well be above the indicator... what you should do, is drive the car around for about 10 mins, making sure you go through every gear the tranny has... that includes backing up, 1,2,3,D, etc.

Then stop and check it with the engine still running and the transaxle in either Park or Neutral.

Re: Auto Transmission fluid Qs, please help!

above full can damage your transmission, it will build too much pressure trying to move the fluid... too low can damage it by not lubricating/cooling it enough.

at or just below full is best, and if you have to drain some, might as well change the filter and fluid, and add some lucas transmission fluid stabilizer to it... that will help recondition the clutches and allow for firmer, more positive shifts.

Either that, or just use Royal Purple ATF... helps get more power to the wheels...

Im not a salesman, I'm just familiar with these products, and they work. Period.
