2000 gtp died, wont stay running

2000 grand prix v6 gtp supercharged, died on highway, will start but will only run for a couple of seconds, same with maf disconnected. new fuel pump recently and just replaced filter after it quit. I read the thread about the fuel pump resistor, no joy. I get no engine lights or codes. I also get heavy gas smell from exhaust along with a puff of light colored smoke

have you tried the fuel pump resistor bypass? There's a link in the tips and maintenance section. This sounds like your problem to me.

Any lights come on when the car stalls out? (tcs off)?

Are you able to keep it running by giving it gas?

Have you checked fuel pressure at the rail?

No lights, haven't checked the rail pressure, just put a new fuel pump on a couple of months ago. have also replaced the MAF, now it won't start.

Re: 2000 gtp died, wont stay running

If you could rent a fuel pressure tester (autozone or advance) and post the fuel pressure readings key on engine off, endine idling, and endine idling with vacuum line removed from the fuel pressure regulator.

Also check for spark. Pull all the wires off the coils and have an assistant crank the motor over. You should see sparks jumping across the two plug wire terminals on each coil. Then put the wires back on.

Have you checked your fuel pump fuses yet? What brand pump did you install?
