Front strut parts

Hello everyone, I need to replace the front struts on my 2000 GP GT 51,000 miles. I know how to remove and instal the struts, the problem i have is when i order the KYB struts what other parts do i have to order to complete the struts to reinstall them? TIA

Struts at 51K miles? What issue are you having?

The KYBs like the GR2 work fine but it is recommended to replace the upper strut mount and load bearing when replacing the strut. Preferably with the GM/Delco OE type.

The front end seems to be mushy and bouncing for to long after hitting a bump in the road. So i can reuse the upper and lower spring seats and change the upper bearing, is that correct?

That is correct. However inspect for any for any wear or damage.

Thanks for the fast reply. I just replaced both lower control arms, pads & rotors and drivers side half axle about 3 weeks ago. It's still in the garage on stands but jnow i have to take it apart again. So much for thinking ahead. It seems like you are the expert here, do you personaly recomend the stock ac-delco or the gr2? thanks

I just replaced my front struts with AC delco's from the dealership. I was going to buy new mounts and bearings from them too, but they wanted more for the mounts than they did the struts, so I passed on the struts and bearings and bought a mount/bearing kit from advance for each side. Each kit costed 40 bucks, and now when I turn corners, my strut bearing make noise. Do yourself a favor and stick with ac-delco's. especially stay away from monroe strut berings. They have a lifetime warrenty, thats why I went with them, but they make noise and annoy the hell out of me.

I ordered two new ac-delco bearings from rockauto.com, and am going to rip into the front end....again as soon as my stabilizer bar from ZZP comes. Mines broken. Dont know what the hold up is. Maybe I'll email them. I see its not even offered on their site anymore. I hope they can still send me one.

I've got the KYB GR2 but with the OE GM upper mounts. At initial install they will be stiffer and little bouncy until they break in.
