96 Trailer Wiring Question
My 1996 has a hitch but the trailer wiring connector was cut off at some point.
I've got five wires, white/black/green/light green/orange if I remember, and I've got a 4/7 dual connector to wire. Is this a standard wire group for the trailer? Or, do I have to go through and test each one. Would it be lights, brake, turn? What else? Thanks...

Re: 96 Trailer Wiring Question
White Wire = Ground
Brown Wire = tail and park lights Yellow Wire = Left turn Green Wire = Right Turn Red wire is for Auiliary Trailer wiring stuff. Blue Wire = Electric brakes But always check them with a test light or volt/ohm meter. And be sure to seal all connections and tie in's with a sealer to keep moisture out. Best to solder wiring splices. The quick connectors or butt connectors trap moisture and damage wiring and cause major headaces. Good Luck MT

Re: 96 Trailer Wiring Question
To add to MT2500 description:
RED wire is battery power. Lt Green wire is back-up lamp power.

Re: 96 Trailer Wiring Question
Thanks for the replies, gents. I found out I've got to wire the truck for a brake controller so I just had a local shop wire for the controller and install this connector.

Re: 96 Trailer Wiring Question
Change one... I'll be doing the wiring myself since the shop's prices are over the top and I don't trust them to do it right.
I bought a brake controller today from Wally World and the extra wire to hook it up, as well as a soldering iron and heat shrink, but it looks like the boy threw the whole bag in the trash. Back to square 1...
