How to value an old dodge?

Well I never thought I would do it but I'm selling my old Dodge.

Its a 1961 Dart with a 361 punched out. Thing runs awesome but it needs some bodywork and such. Not much to br driven but a bit to be perfection. I even have a receipt for $2300 in engine work. with only 50 miles on it since.


How do you put a price on a car like this? I checked Nada and it says about $4300 low book and I think $11,000 high. But isnt low book still drivable?


Ive had it up for sale for about a month now and the only offers I have gotten was $800 cash ... a 95 Probe with a blown engine and a Bombraider quad.



I know there is ebay but I don't have the funds to actually put it on ebay right now since I am puting all my cash into my camaro cause I need a daily driver.

I'd say your best bet would be to look around and try to find some similar that are also for sale! Check everywhere you can think of on the web and you may be able to get a better idea!

I somehow managed to track down an old post of yours with the youtube videos on it. It sure sounds good, but I can't tell about the overall condition. You just have to find the right person, someone who loves the styling of that era as much as I do. My gut feeling says $4000 - and then up from there depending on condition. To get anywhere near that 11000, it's gotta be a pristine original, or a nicely done resto.

My thinking is that if you spent a little time and money on the body, you'd probably get all of that investment back and more. The car has to sell itself...if it looks like crap then all people think is "man that's alot of work" even though the innards are fine...it's all perceived value.

Drop maybe $1k into the resto, get the body and paint cleaned up and I bet it'll sell for alot more because alot more people are looking to buy a car than a project. Good luck!

Well I don't actually have anything into it. I traded a $600 gmc jimmy for it.



Problem is if I put anything into it I would want to keep it lol. I love the car to death but the whole problem is I have no income. I can barely walk at times so I can't really afford to restore it. Bad enough my dad is helping me rebuild my camaro so I have a daily driver.


I don't really care if it sells. I don't mind getting "stuck" with that monster lol.


As it site right now all it needs done to be driven is a small hole under the back seat patched... needs some lights and the brakes adjusted and thats it.

To look perfect it does need some bodywork as the guy who had it before had a hard time getting it in and out of the garage without rubbing it.

Other than putting a picture ad in Hemmings Motor News (they have a website too), putting it on ebay as a parts car, with a picture, would give you the most publicity for your money - and not cost as much as listing it as a running car. You would want to put a high reserve on it (like $11,000), with a starting bid decently high ($2000?). The intent would be to let the tiny number of folks who are seriously interested view it, and be able to send you emails after it doesnt meet your reserve.

i would say i would give you 1000 more then what you had done in motor work but right now im in the same boat with the cash flow. took me 3 year to finish my geo storm then again my storm in a one off no one has one with a 3000gt motor and tans, i got my tuner and i need my old school but dont have the money to do it, b/c that's what 3000-4000 for the car, then i would haft to pay to have it shipped to me thats another 1000 easy. give i need a pic of it. so i know what im getting myself in to.
