Keyless Entry system failing?
My customer has a '93 Roadmaster and called me yesterday to say the keyless entry is working abnormally. When pressed once(with all these remotes) the front door is to open. When pressed twice(unlock button) the passenger and rear doors are to unlock.
He says the driver's door never opens(unlocks) and the passenger and rear doors unlock with the first click (abnormal). Has anyone run across this one? Sounds like the receiver or module may have failed to me? I'm going to check the driver's door by manually pressed the power button on Friday to make sure the driver's door actuator is working. Otherwise I think the receiver is failing. Could I be wrong? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Keyless Entry system failing?
Could the whole system need to be "reset" or "reprogrammed"?

Re: Keyless Entry system failing?
I think it´s possible to reprogram keyless entry so that all doors open on the first keypress. If it has been working with all doors from the beginning, it´s probably just reprogrammed by previos owners/dealers. It is also possible to rewire the keyless entry module to open all doors on the first keypress.
There are separate wires from the keyless entry module for the drivers door and the others, the drivers door lock motor is driven directly from the module while the others get their power from the "door lock relay assembly". It is possible that the relay inside the module that powers the driver door is gone. If You locate the connector on the module which has a thick orange wire (+12V) You can check if the tancoloured wire on that connector gives +12V (a short burst, use a test light rather that a voltmeter) when You press unlock once. I installed an alarm system and just removed the keyless entry module. That´s an expensive way to get rid of the problem but You get more security and that´s nice and it´s probably not as expensive as a new module anyway. I´m not absolutely sure about the colours on the wires for -93 and earlier but Haynes RM got it right for my -95 RMW so hopefully it´s good for the -93 as well. Haynes has different diagrams for 93 and earlier than the one I used (94-96) but they are very similar. hope the problem gets solved. /Benny
