Dash Removal

hello,

can anyone tell me how to remove the stock radio on a 2004 saturn ion? i want to install a different head unit. but i cant figure out how to remove it. please help!!!! thanks!!!

you have to pop the trim panel off that is around the shifter and just lay it to the side enough to gain access to the 2 screws under the the radio trim piece. After you remove those to screws the panel will pop off, its just held in by clips

So are we talking about the trim panel that completely encompasses the entire radio housing??? My G/F's is broken from a defective air freshener leaking on it and we were thinking we needed to pull the whole upper dash unit to get the upper center console peice off...

All you have to do is pull on the a/c vents until it pops out. I've done it a million times without breaking anything. It will take a little force though. The radio is held in by 2 7mm bolts
