Sprint/Metro Powertrain Swap

Re:" '96....no go": I have an '89 Sprint Turbo that has way more power and way better mileage than the Metro. Is it possible that the powertrain from the Sprint will fit into the Metro? I would be more than willing to try this if the Metro doesn't start running pretty damn soon. Although, I would probably have to get a new "Turbo" decal for the Metro.

Both are standard transmissions.

Thanks for any input.
