Re: how do you time a 1995 camry 2.2 engine
With a calendar...just kidding.
There should be a label on the underside of your hood showing the correct angle and which terminals to jumper across. The timing mark is viewed by using a strobe timing light that is connected to pulse with the firing of the #1 cylinder. This is usually done with an inductive lead that clamps around the #1 spark plug wire...no splicing necessary. The flash illuminates the crankshaft pulley and timing marks, letting you see exactly when the #1 plug fires in relation to the crankshaft position. Adjusting the timing is done by loosening the distributor hold-down bolt and rotating the distributor slightly. Good luck!
