Parking Brake Light Comes on during Hard Acceleration

I have a weird problem with my (!) Parking brake light. It comes on after a cold start, alweays turns off after the second start then comes on again after about 15 min of driving after I accelerated strongly.

I checvkede the brake fluid and it seems OK, and the parking brake is disengaged. Could it be a parking brake sensor? Anyone else have this problem.

Re: Parking Brake Light Comes on during Hard Acceleration

I would double check the brake fluid level!

Re: Parking Brake Light Comes on during Hard Acceleration

Should I pump the brakes with the car off to relieve the vaccum before I top up the fluid?

No vacuum in the M/C, just take the cover off.

Thanks for the responses.

I have read that you have to be extermely careful when adding brake fluid. What is the wrost that can happen if some water or dust gets in?

Re: Parking Brake Light Comes on during Hard Acceleration

During the short period of time you will have the cover off, this will not be a problem.

Re: Parking Brake Light Comes on during Hard Acceleration

The fluid was good. I topped it up some more just to be safe. I noticed there are some wires sticking out of the brake fluid container. Could there be a problem with the sensor?

The light seems to come on after about 15 minutes of driving whether I am accelrating hard or not and it seems to be more of a problem in the rain.

Disconnect the sensor at the M/C and see what happens.

Re: Parking Brake Light Comes on during Hard Acceleration

Well I'm pretty sure it has to do with the parking brake. I put it on last night and when I drove off after realeasing the lever the brake stayed on and squeaked like hell. Eventually it released fully.

Where is the sensor that sets off the light?

What is the best way to fix a sticky parking brake pad?
