Need help with radio wiring.

I'm trying to install a cd changer with a rf modulator into my 2001 Sonoma. All the wires I'm working with come from the radio connector that's plugged into the radio. The orange wire is the constant 12v and it's reading 11.5 volts. Every thing I've read says the yellow wire is the 12v only with the ignition on. I tested the yellow wire with the key off and then with the key on and no voltage either way when I tested with my volt meter. I ended up testing all the wires with the key off and on and none had power except a green wire which I believe goes to the right speaker. It only read 10.5 volts. I hooked the rf modulator wire to that wire and still the changer didn't work. I also test both of the rf modulator wires on the orange constant wire and everything work right. I know I'm not supposed to keep it hooked that way or the changer will constantly run and drain the battery. If anyone can help me it would be great.
