Oil warning light

Had the 1996 1.1 carb model for 6 months now.
when i first bought it the oil warning light would appear after motorway journeys but now it comes on a lot, only when i'm coasting or with clutch down at junctions when revs have dropped.
Any ideas whats causing this? i keep checking oil level and its fine
using 10w 40oil, doubt this has an effect.

thanks.

Re: Oil warning light

you'll need a guage not to sure where the sending unit is on your car but check around the oil filter you need to remove & install the guage there or you can replace the sender unit if you dont have a guage they are'nt exspensive & see if thats your problem.Good Luck

Re: Oil warning light

the oil sender is on the back of the engine underneath the inlet manifold. Make sure the wire is on ok, and buy a new sender. they cost about £3.
If the fault is still there and you're sure the wiring is ok, then i think your engine is gonna die. get a garage to check your oil pressure properly before you scrap the engine though
