1987 Chevy V30 Questions

Hi, a friend of mine is looking to get rid of his 87 V30. I was just wondering what the general consensus was on these trucks. Are these trucks good for mudding/climbing? The only reason I ask is because its a one ton truck powered by a fuel injected 350, which seems like a lot of weight for a 350. I've had a truck in the past with a FI 350 and I didn't feel like it had enough power. The truck he has is lifted and has 39" tires on it I believe, would the 350 have enough power to push this truck through a nice mud pit? How do these trucks normally hold up? Do they seem to have any problems? I'm no mechanic by far so I'm trying to avoid any major headaches. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Josh
