Tranny fluid... synchromesh price??
Hey guys, so I have a sort of pointless thread but I didnt know how else to find out.
First off, now that the new clutch is in and I dont plan on taking the tranny out again any time soon, I wanted to get some good fluid in there. I know Shep recommends Pennzoil Synchromesh which is what I plan to run. I know people have liked BG Synchroshift as well, but I think I am going to stick to Synchromesh. The only problem I have is finding it. Neither Wal-Mart, Napa, Autovalue, Champion, nor Car Quest have it. I know GM rebranded it under their parts brand name so I called up the Chevy dealership today and asked if they had any and sure enough they did... for fucking $14.22 a quart!! What the hell?? How much is it at a normal place? I think I am going to go to Fargo or Minneapolis in a couple weeks and I'll just have to snag some when I am in of those places. Shit, even Royal Purple's stuff from SBR of all places is only $11 a quart and I think the Valvoline stuff I put in there (just about the only shit I could find period up here) was only like $4.50 a quart IIRC.

 Build on hold until I get a good paying job, either in school or once I get out. At that time a full tear down and complete rebuild should be in order. The Purple People Eater will ride again... January 2011 can't come soon enough.

I think I paid like 13 or 14 bucks for mine... Autozone carried it but they usually sell it out pretty quick.

i'm running mobil 1 and have no complaints, trany shifts like it did on day 1 rolling off the showroom floor... think it was like $13.75 a quart...
