'07 HVAC help

I have an 07 GP out of warranty due to mileage and the blower stopped working a couple of weeks ago. So far here is what we have done - removed and checked blower motor - working -, replaced blower control module - not the problem. Took to the dealer and had it checked out. They are 80% sure that it is the control unit in the dash which costs 280.00 from them plus $100 to install. They said the only other thing it could be was maybe a wiring issue but since everything else on the car works including the knobs to turn on the ac and to change the air flow, it was likely that unit. I have found a used one and bought it and my husband "might" try to install it. My question is has anyone on here done anything like this on an 04 - 08? It looks simple to do it just what is the best way to get to it? any help would be greatly appreciated!
BTW I posted this on another forum and the answer was to try to get Pontiac to pay for this since the mileage was 46k when this happened. I have been talking to them for over two weeks and nothing yet, it is in the upper 90's with a lot of humidity here and I am tired of dealing with them.

OK quick update on this. My husband changed the unit in about 30 min and that is not the problem. He is again checking fuses, blower motor, and blower control module. As for wiring he is not comfortable doing any of that and at this point I am not comfortable taking it to the same dealer again so I don't know what from here other than finding a good auto electric shop. Any suggestions at all as to what else it could be???? I have owned 3 Pontiacs 2 of which have been GP's and sadly I think I've had enough!

Is this the manual climate control C67 or the dual zone automatic CJ2? If you have the rotary temperature knob it is the manual system. How was the blower motor tested? Could be a wiring issue or just missing 12 volts from the power circuits to the climate control unit. Do you have a multimeter to check voltages at the fuse sockets?

It is the manual climate control. We checked the blower motor by taking it out of the car and applying 12v straight to the motor. We do have a multimeter but did not check the voltages at the fuse sockets, just that the actual fuses weren't blown. I'm not sure what the dealer did but they said they checked all the small things such as fuses first, meaning they probably did just what we did. And that the climate control unit was getting power to it but not putting it back out. I guess they mean from that one knob since you can hear it turning on the ac and changing the air flow. When it first happened my husband checked the voltage from the the blower control module and it was dead. The hubby is not home right now or you might have a more detailed reply. So I will get him to check the voltage at the fuse sockets. Should the blower motor be checked another way? Anything else?? And thanks for the reply.

The way the blower motor was tested was fine. Really hard to tell what direction to head without proper documentation like the factory service manual wiring diagrams. The next step if the climate control unit has all input required then the output to the blower motor control module needs to be checked or the wiring ohmed out point to point. Also, double checking grounding.

Thanks to BNaylor who responded to my post and I thought I would let you know that my AC is finally fixed (hopefully for good now). I contacted GM to complain since it appeared to have to fix in sight and they agreed to pay for fixing it. I took it to the same dealer again and they told me it must be wiring. When I picked the car up I was told it "probably" needed an accuator because they had it working but the air didn't blow in all places when on recirculated and as I was leaving they ran out to me and said they would order a control head because it probably needed that too, so I left not at all happy about things but it was at least working for the moment. It appeared to work normally when I checked it in all positions. It quit working before I got home I decided to call the dealership I bought the car from which is a 45 min drive from my house and is not a Pontiac dealer but a GM dealer and spoke to service manager who said he would have to contact GM about paying and call me back. He called and told me to bring it in. It started working again before I could get there and when I did, he told me it would be very hard to find the problem while it was working and I really needed to come back when it stopped again, well it on the way home so I went back and had to leave it overnight because it was 3 by then. They called me the next day and told me the car was ready to go. It was the connector from the control head to the control module that was bad...So far so good, it has worked for 3 consecutive days now! NoImage = NoSigImageNoImage = NoImageRes
