Alternator Output

What should be the normal voltage output at the main alternator stud for a 2001 I30?

Value is between 13.8-14.7V, typical 14.2V. Check this page and its links:

Re: Alternator Output

Thanks, mine is only putting out 9v+, either needs replaced or reconditioned. Funny thing happened yesterday after driving it for the first time in weeks. The battery and brake light came on. Brake fluid is not low, park brake not on. Thats when I test the voltage and got the 9v. Then as I was driving, the ABS light and Trac off light came on. Got home disconnected battery and it reset the ABS and Trac light but the other two are still on. Kinda wierd.

I think its weird u can drive with charge voltage 9V - maybe reading isn't true?. Before any repair, check with another multimeter ... and be sure that multimeter batt is ok.

Re: Alternator Output

The car would likley not start if batt was reading was actually 9 vdc. With the engine off a decent batt. should read 12.5-13 vdc. With the engine running it should read 14-14.5 vdc.

No direct answer but thoughts around the issue ... Anythin' goes: Its a guestion how directly all fits in, do u need wiring and or attachment, pulley swap job. My guess is that most Nissans have similar plugging, mechanical tightening brackets do vary. Like 80-90s Maxima/bluebird/stanza, all the alt shroud two base attachments (long, all thru bolt) fit directly but needs a handmade tightening bracket.

Re: Alternator Output

Called my local Nissan dealership and they didn't have a book to cross reference parts between Nissan and Infiniti. I am only thinking they are the same is bacause the alternator on it now doesn't say nissan or infiniti, is is made me denso. Also, anyone had anyluck refurbing an alternator themselves?
