WIP - 2003 Dodge SRT-4

I'm replicating a car for a friend of mine with a Maisto 1/24 2003 Dodge SRT-4 diecast model. Her car is a 2004 Dodge Neon SRT-4 that she customized to the theme of the classic 1970 Plymouth AAR 'Cuda and has done all the work herself...including painting her car with a 1970-1971 specific Mopar color, "Panther Pink". Here's a few pics of her ride:

Here's some pics of the progress so far...

The body was red in color, and I stripped the paint off with Aircraft Stripper (great stuff btw!). Took the paint off in a matter of a few minutes!

Re: WIP - 2003 Dodge SRT-4

Some interior shots...the whole interior was all light grey with nothing of detail painted except for the decal for the gauges, which I removed so I could give the whole interior a paint job. I mixed flat black and flat grey and got a dark graphite color to match the factory "dark slate grey" color pretty dan well! Then I painted the HVAC bezel and the gauge surrounds just like in her car, as well as adding some color to the A/C controls and such. Also painted the door handles silver, as in her car, and the seat belt buckles with flat red.

Re: WIP - 2003 Dodge SRT-4

Here is the engine bay and one shot of the body. The engine bay was ALL black, except for the valve cover, which was silver in color. The bay is pretty accurate, only missing the injector cover with the "SRT-4" badge and it saying "3.4L TURBO" when it's really supposed to say "2.4L TURBO". LoL! They added a whole liter to the motor! That's a big-*** 4-cylinder!

As for the body, it's nicely sculpted with minor imperfections, which I'm not going to worry about. I am, however, going to re-strip the car, due to me being impatient and putting fingerprints in the paint. I used Testors Model Master "Panther Pink" enamel can, which I'm now going to try a laquer system on it. I've heard you get much better results.

This is as far as I've gotten on it. I still have to find some wheels from a Revell "Tuner" series '93 Civic to match those of my friend's car, make a custom hood scoop, and find a way to make those AAR 'Cuda-style graphics. Stay tuned!

Yeah, I'm going to strip it down to bare metal again, use some self-etching primer, and use Testor's laquer primer, color, and clear. Hopefully I'll get it smooth after that and won't have to sand anything.
