Can the Metro accommodate a Toyota 5SFE drivetrain?

I've got a 95 lsi Metro...I want to put the engine and transmission from a 92 Toyota Celica in the Metro.

The Celica has a 2.2l DOHC 4 cylinder engine, and 5 speed manual transmission. Its the same 5SFE engine that's in a lot of Camrys. The 5SFE has about 130 horsepower and gets 32+ mpg in the Celica or Camry. I'd love to have good gas mileage AND performance from my Metro.

Does anyone know if this can be done? Or know if its been done before?

Re: Can the Metro accommodate a Toyota 5SFE drivetrain?

The question is: Would it actually be worth the hassle of trying to find out? Anything is possible with enough $$$....... But these days, the 2.2 and 2.4 Liter Ecotec 4 Cyl engines we build at work are getting 32 MPG on the Hwy and putting out 160 HP or more on the stock factory engines.
