TMS, Down on the Farm

Has anyone seen these picts? I stop by the Turner Motorsports Site from time-to-time and found these. My apologies if it's a repost, but there are several picts of 007 here.

I think this set may have been posted before but can't be sure. Anyway, I still love seeing #007 - it's early public appearances in the USA were certainly one of the driving factors that sparked my interest in the McLaren F1. Frank is very open with the car and happy to share it with enthusiasts - we need more owners like him.

Re: TMS, Down on the Farm

Yes, I was there that day last July! I looked in the backgrounds of the some of the pictures but I don't think I'm in any of the shots.

I agree Erik, I wish there were more owners like that. The Greenwich Concours this weekend was, as far as I'm aware, F1-less, which is disappointing considering the amount of F1s in the immediate surrounding area. Obviously I don't think the owners owe it to any one to display them, but if the opportunity presents itself to show the the car at a high-profile event for one day a year, safely and completely roped off, to display for like-minded enthusiasts, what's the harm? I'm sure it's more complicated than that but hopefully some of these reclusive machines will begin to appear as the summer rolls on...

The blue Koennniigggsssseeegggg CCX from the NY secret supercar society photos was there. Even though the car isn't my cup of tea, it's good to see its owner eager to share.

Note: maybe I'm wrong about the Concours this past weekend, I was only there Sunday. I've looked on Flickr and found nothing but maybe some of you know of other places to look!

Yeah, I always enjoy the picts on the Turner Website, so it was nice to see these new(er) ones. My fav is where the guy is reaching up to close the door. I've never seen an F1 in person, but have heard they are smaller than one might think; this pict gave a good impression of size.

I bet you'd be surprised. I'm sure there is someone in almost every state who has gotten SBARU on their tags, and since I'm an SVX fan/former owner, I probably know more than a few of them via online groups like this one. Besides, if you read the owner's thread in this forum, you'll see how far off the 'tool' assumption is.

I saw them last year just after the event - great pics; my favourite is this one and was my wallpaper for a while

How on Earth does it matter to you what's on his license plate? Seriously - what difference does it make in your life that you took the time out of your day just to call this person a 'tool'?? This is the wrong place to call this F1 owner names - he's contributed more to this forum than you have.

Making a statement, like you have done. Only goes to show how imature you are.

People buy things to suit their own personal tastes and pockets, like you have purchased a Subaru imprezza, but no one has insulted you for buying such an unusual car, have they. So has the owner wasted his money?

Considering the contributions he has made on such a rare car, he certainly does not deserve to be called anything but generous and patient.

I believe the only tool here is you.

Here's How This Works...

You want to elaborate on that a little bit. Are you telling me he is a humanitarian because of his work with Mclaren F1s? I will read the owners thread just to make you Mclaren "geeks" happy. geez man I'm real sorry I wandered in here. not really. I will stay away if it will make you happy though. I am just one of those "immature" people who puts in 65 hours a week driving a truck for a multi-millionaire that spends all of his time driving expensive cars and playing golf. I don't owe rich people ANYTHING. I don't understand why people love the rich so much and act like I have to also. The Mclaren F1 is truly an engineering marvel. I like supercars, but despise the private individuals who own them. If this guy is truly a good-hearted person, he is certainly an exception to the rule. Good for him.
I don't think anyone is necessarily standing up for the guy because he is well-off or because he has an F1. Nor does it have anything to do with what you drive; there is nothing wrong with Imps or WRXs; at our cores, we are car guys (and gals), so that is not it. It was really the way you went about things. Personalized tags are what they are. Would you say the same things if you saw the owner of that F1 driving a Mini without personalized tags (not a stretch as that is one of his other cars)?

Your issue seems to be personal in nature, having little if anything to do with the F1. You have a very high number of posts in AF, so you should not be surprised at the reactions you've garnered, as I would guess you have made statements like this before. In this instance, it has nothing to do with the F1 or its owner or his tags; it is - and this may make you happy - all about you! I encourage you to read his posts, starting here, and make an honest, unbiased call yourself. Honest. Unbiased. Have a go at it. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=149954

He hasn't paid us anything. Money doesn't get you respect. It's how you treat people that gets you respect.

It's up to you. You can either be a positive contributor or be ostracized.

Well someone has to. You chose your profession. Not the owner. You can easily leave the position for something much more rewarding. Less hours, better pay.

Obviously disgruntled. Do yourself a favor and seek out another opportunity. No point in going to work in a job that you don't like. Trust me, your outlook on life will be much better. And your response towards your friends, colleagues and acquaintances will be much better.

Well actually, good for all enthusiasts. And he is one of many that contributed to this knowledge base, either publicly or privately.

Perhaps this thing should be saved for Private Messages only? We all don't want to hear 'this and that' that's not Mclaren related....

I agree. This whole thing is gaining speed and losing altitude at a brisk pace. I'm beginning to regret starting this thread. Be that as it may, the pictures from the farm were nice.

Re: TMS, Down on the Farm

Yeah - this thread doesn't quite have the tone this forum is normally recognized for so I shall put it to rest.

All this originating from differing opinions of a novelty plate... really?
