its rebuild time!
well, i officially killed my 2.4
was on the highway goin 70 (trying to clean out the egr -kid before me didnt put a gasket on the header! ) ... got off onto the highway.. and whoa! what happened! my engine jumped a couple of times, then i had NO acceleration - im thinking i jumped timing or something to that extent - anyways i babied it home got about half a mile from my house and "BANG clink clink clink (sounded like i ran over a metal kitten) " now its not turning with the starter. i plan on rebuilding what i can, and replacing ONLY what i have to ( i live 3.2 miles from work and i have a nice bicycle) so be for-warned, i will be asking questions about rebuilding my engine |

Re: its rebuild time!
take the head, block, and crank to a machine shop after tearing it all down is step # 1.
Hone the cylinders and have the block and head planed to make sure they are 100% flat, and to make sure the crank is still balanced. Also have the block acid dipped and the head sent through a good parts washer. New rods, pistons, rings, rod and main bearings, head bolt set, are going to be the big set backs along with the machine work.
