Idle Air Bypass Valve

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHO THE SUPPLIER OF THE IDLE AIR BYPASS VALVE FOR THE 4.6L ENGINE IS. I'VE BEEN TO THE FORD STORE AND IT'S NOT FORD. I'VE BEEN TO A LOCAL PARTS STORE AND IT DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE A NORMAL AFTERMARKET PIECE. MY CAR WON'T IDLE WHICH MAKES IT INTERESTING GETTING TO THE GRID AND BACK TO MY PIT. BEEN LOOKING ON THE INTERNET FOR A WHILE WITH NO LUCK. HELP!!

Re: Idle Air Bypass Valve

I don't know much about 4.6s. The question I have is why do you need an after market idle air? Something isn't adding up. I have never heard of someone bragging about there high output idle air. Whats ya going to do with a high output idle air idle faster. Could it be you have some off the wall intake. Does the idle air have any markings on it? Sorry I am not much help but something sound fishy to me.

the problem is the engine won't idle. it's either revving high or its dead. there are no markings on the valve and the problem is the OE version has 2 wires going to it and the one i have has 4 wires going to it. i may be able to work around the problem by adjusting the throttle plates open and adjusting the throttle position sensor or pulling the guts out of the valve i have and see what happens. these are last resorts, i'd rather find the right piece to put back in.

best bet would be to call PAD directly, or maybe try Gary Jones at Gary JOnes Motorsport, he seems to be the most knowledgeable(that i know anyway) and always very helpful.

Also, have you tried cleaning it? thy are notorious for getting gummed up and sticking. Hose it down with some carb cleaner and see if that helps.

Re: Idle Air Bypass Valve

problem solved. after going bug eyed surfing the net i found something that will work. its from standard automotive parts part#AC1. the valve part will screw out of the housing and the new one goes back in. replaced it on my car and it idles fine. the strange thing is valve is common in GM products from the mid 80's to the mid 90's. you series car guys may want to note the part# in your car documentation.

Re: Idle Air Bypass Valve

Not that this helps you, but this is why I went with the 5.slow car... more simple motor w/ a more developed aftermarket.
