What scanner for cam retard
I have a Actron OBD II 9175 scantool, but don't see how it can check the Cam Retard. I need to change out my distributer gear on my '96 5.7liter Silverado and need to verify the +/- 2 degrees from 0 to ensure the timing is correct through the OBD II system. If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks, Brian |

Re: What scanner for cam retard
Brian: You need to do some internet research for a good scan tool. The one you have seems to be a "code reader " and maybe a bit more. "cam retard" is also known as "cam offset", "cmp" and probably some other acronym's close to that. Expect to pay $500-$2000.

Re: What scanner for cam retard
Well, just found out that the base auto hobby shop has a few thousand dollar Snap On diagnostic scanner with all the adapters and circuit boards for all vehicle types that can read the Cam Offset.
Thanks! |
