'96 Tahoe 5.7 gas Intake Manifold

I'm in the process of getting all the gaskets, etc to remove the "infamous" intake manifold on the '96 Tahoe. All information I can find, tells me to ream out the manifold bolts threads on the engine block before installing the manifold.

To buy a tap and T-handle, what are the bolt size, and thread types on this engine?

I used a .38 Caliber copper cleaning brush dipped in lacquer thinner to clean out the female threads on the engine block. The brush was ~$1.00 and I already had the handle. Handle would be less than $5.00 if you had to buy one new.

What you are trying to accomplish is to clean the threads so the Loctite has something to grip to.

That's a great idea. I have some small round wire brushes that I can use on the block threads. It's aways best to ask, for someone may have a better mouse trap.

Thanks for the tip.
