6 Speed Manual vs. E-Gear
I love the idea of the paddle shifters. It is very cool plus it makes you feel like a true F1 driver
, but I cannot get past having clutch control. I feel the need to have full control over the gear box and transmission, a true sports car.If the car were to have a clutch and still have the paddle shifters behind the wheel out of convenience then I would surely do the paddles. But to have them as replacement for having to use a clutch just does not work for me. Doesn't the M3 SMG use a sequential gear box while retaining the clutch?? If so that is the way I would go. |

Paddle shifters are cool, but you gotta have a 6-speed.

If it's anything like DSG, I'll take it and run circles around a manual Gallardo

According to several sites, the manual is standard on the Gallardo and the e-gear is an extra, so if you want clutch and stick, you're sorted!!

The problem is not the gear,
it's the £££

Or the $$$
I would like the E-Gear, simply because if you have a high performance car like this you want the extras not many cars have to show off and to be unique.. just like scissor doors, adjustable air intakes, automatic adjusting spoiler.. Also once gotten used to the E-Gear for most people would help them achieve maximum performance. Thing is this is just another factor that will make buying the right 2nd hand one of these for you that little bit harder. but oh well.

Gears
In answer to raven1822, the BMW M3 SMG doesn't have a clutch pedal. I can't really se why we need semi-automatic gears as there is nothing wrong with manual ones. If you are a racing driver and you need to be able to shave a fraction of a second off gearchange speeds then fine. All most road users ever get from a semi-automatic is a burnt clutch plate every time they try a three point turn.

I can do without the semi-automatic gear shift without a doubt.
But I would love to have sequential with a clutch pedal, like the the some of the GT cars ie 550GT, Viper GT, etc. that race in the FIA GT and Le mans.

Yes I voted for the "6-Gear" transmission cause I also would like full control over the vehicle.
Lamborghini always had a 6-Gear transmission, so why change it!!

The Murcielago is the first production Lamborghini with a six speed gearbox.
Hopefully the 'E-gear' box is a sequential, dual clutch unit, similar to the one used in the Golf R32. |
