F&F '95 Eclipse box-top build...sorta

Well, I was going to do this as a quickie, but then I realized just how off some of the interior was. At first I was okay with it, but then it began to bug me. For some reason I really like this over-the-top car and I wanted to do it to movie-spec (as close-to as possible.)

(Directed towards AMT) If your going to make a model of a movie car, get the details right.

When I was looking over the kit I noticed that it only has one NOS bottle, and it just sits in the trunk/boot right next too a fire extinguisher. Now I know I am taking this way to seriously (geek moment approaching), but in the movie Brian reached over his should and cranks open 2 bottles of naws that are both facing forward. I don't remember him walking to the trunk, pushing a fire extinguisher out of the way and opening the nos.

So I decided it would be more fun the cut the rear seat into a folded down position, like I imagine it was in the movie.

First I had to fix the int. in place with some two-part epoxy putty.

Then I cut the seat apart from the trunk space.

Next I cut the seat-back from the lower cushion.

Test fit.

Filled it with chopped up tree, and began the putty up.

Next I used part of the Supra wing I scrapped to fill the void.

More scrap plastic to cover the triangle openings on the strut covers.

Final putting prior to sanding.

Painted and ready for naws bottles Mr Arizona.

Just some other stuff that I did while I was waiting for the putty to cure.

The body with the first color of green. I didn't like this paint. It was too dark, and too green.

So I used a lighter, more lime/apple green.

I also painted the seats to look the the Sparco Torino's that he had (minus the White Sparco stitching)

Re: F&F '95 Eclipse box-top build...sorta

Little more progress.
So I repainted the body again. This time I think my OCD ace got the color right.
Painted the trim, and tinted the windows. The rear 1/4 windows too some prompting to get the right fit, but once I popped them in I was rather impressed by how well they actually fit. The front windshield was cake.

I also realized that AMT totally failed at getting the height of these seat correct. When you sit them in the interior with the door panels, the tops of the seats barely clear the panel.

So I took some more of that lovely epoxy and made the seat backs a bit taller. I will also put spacers under the seats so that the whole seats themselves will sit higher in the car.

I also finished the rear and put the tanks (courtesy of the Supra).

Re: F&F '95 Eclipse box-top build...sorta

I finished the interior. I used some scrap CF decal for the dash trim. The kit didn't come with gauge decals, so I chopped up an extra Integra one that I had and arranged it like the one in the flick.

I decided not to used pictures off the interweb for reference as most of them are clones used for shows, or the stunt cars and lack proper detail. I never intended to be this OCD with this project, but it's good practice.

The backs of the seats and the back area looks kinda rough, but I don't care because you can't see it through the smoked glass.
