SS vs R32

Its been so long since ive had a good race worth posting...

So at my job there are quit a few car people there and some nice cars. Well there is one guy with a 2005 R32, not the newest model that just came out, the model before that. Him and i always talk crap to eachother about whos car is faster, well we finally got a race.

Ok background information.

My Car
2006 Cobalt SS/SC GM Stage 2, 2.9 Pulley, AEM filter, Trans mounts, torque Brace, Dunlope Dizeras R1 tires (really good)
13.91@102MPH is my best quarter mile last year on crap tires.
Somewhere around 260 Crank HP

His Car
200? ish Volkswagon R32, intake and exhaust. 270 HP stock. 5 cylinder NA.

This race wasnt really planned, but we had been talking crap about whos car is faster all day at work, so when i am leaving i see him coming down the road towards me. So i quickly pull out in front of him and give him the finger. LOL just to make sure he bites.

First race wasnt really a race, we both pulled out onto this road and he kinda took a jump on me. Took me about half a second to get on the gas but my attempts to make up the distance were futile, although he wasnt putting any more distance. Which gave me some hope because he claims people with the same model and mods as him were running low 13's at 108MPH.

So we get back even again and line up to go from a roll around 35MPH. He was still on winter tires so a dig wasnt gonna happen. 35 MPH is the sweet spot in 2nd gear, no real form we both just kinda took off. Due to the superchargers isntant boost i instantly put his front bumper at my door. We both had our windows down and all i could hear was the supercharger screaming away in his ear. I continued to inch my way ahead little by little, redlining at 7,000 RPMS in each gear. This turned out to be a nice advantage because i found myself having to shift much less than he did, and each time he shifted he fell further back. We continued to about 105MPH, top of 3rd gear for me before i stopped. I had about half a car on him at that point.

But yeah thats the most exciting race ive had in over a year...damn. But i needed to add to the Cobalt domination that ive been seeing going on here lately.

Re: SS vs R32

Cobalt domination son. SS Fo' life

But dang, nice race. didnt expect you to win that one. R32s are fast SOBs, plus the mods he had. No boost lag FTW! Im hoping to have your mods plus some form of exhaust mods (headers, downpipe, catback, or any combination.) So that makes me pretty happy about the performace you are getting out of them. the 7k redline would be very nice to have as I seem to still have a problem occasionally bouncing off that rev limiter. Though that is almost totally gone now

Nice kill, and go get some more races!

Just imagine how he would have done if that last cylinder was firing...

Re: SS vs R32

correction, R32s do not come with 270hp stock, the 04 is rated at 240 and the 08 is 250.

Re: SS vs R32

yeah so he is just pouring gas into a tube and igniting it, which actually improves fuel economy.

My best 1/4 is [email protected], I've been thinking about getting a 2.9 pulley

Re: SS vs R32

How 'bout that I just noticed my sig has no mods

I've got the GM stage 2 installed, and I placed a cone filter on the intake and removed the bottom from the stock box.

Just got HPTuners and we'll see what I can do from there......
