-94 Wagon transmission problem?
Hello! My parents have a -94 Ford Taurus Wagon and it has a strange problem. When you shift it in to gear the car jerks and when you accelerate it only revs up but it wont move. It has been in the garage for 7 years now because no one can tell what is wrong with it. The problems started 6 years ago. You had to accelerate for long until it started moving and you had to keep the gas pedal down even when braking so it wont get out of gear. Please help us find out what is wrong with our Taurus. Thanks!!
EDIT: The transmission is automatic. Last edited by 007viper0; 06-09-2008 at 03:13 AM. |

Re: -94 Wagon transmission problem?
Was the transmission fluid level and condition ever checked?

Yes, many times and the condition was good.

Re: -94 Wagon transmission problem?
Probably not forgotten, but maybe no one has suggestions.
You should try the "Search this forum" tool from the Taurus forum main page if you haven't already. Unfortunately I'm not even sure what to suggest as good keywords to search for. Sounds like either shift solenoid or pump issues, but I've very little experience with automatic transmissions and only slightly more with manuals. -Rod |

Re: -94 Wagon transmission problem?
It's been in the garage for 7 years because no one can tell what's wrong with it?? Who is "no one"??? Family and friends? How about taking it to a locally-owned trans repair shop, no national chains, for some honest-to-goodness diagnosis? About time, don't you think???
