Talking 1992 Buick Lesabre Window Problems

I have a 1992 Buick Lesabre that has a window that will not go up. It is the driver's side rear window. When I try the button, I hear a clicking noise in the door. This problem has been gradual. The other windows still work, but this one started to have trouble and then quit working alltogether. I would love some help. It looks like we are going to have rain this week and want to try and get it fixed before my car drowns. Thanks Lori.

Re: 1992 Buick Lesabre Window Problems

I also have a 92 with one window that gives me trouble. If ours goes down the only way to get it up is to physically hold both sides of the window and push up while someone else operates the button and it usually will go up. Yours might not work. If it does, simply don't touch the button again! As to fixing it, I don't know what is wrong but your door panel will likely have to come off to diagnose it. (If it is a back window it is easier to simply never open it)

Re: 1992 Buick Lesabre Window Problems

There's a general rule about all power windows.

If you hear strange popping noises - it's the regulator, if you don't hear anything at all - it's the motor or electrical connection.

You can easily find the modular regulator assemblie on eBay that will cure your problem, you'll also need access to a rivet-gun and the appropriate rivets (available from GM) to be able to replace the regulator assembly plus, you'll have to drill-out the existing rivets to remove your defective assembly.

You can find the how-to article on Autozone's site.

Good luck!
