hi out there in automotive land, I took a 2.8 EFI. out of a firebird and put a 350 4 bolt main with a 4 brl rochester with headers, so you can imagine the wires,
I question what the hell i got myself into here, spent alot of money and it starts but doesnt stay running..soon as i let go of the key it quits and its really frustrating me, im thinkin it has to do with vacuum or distibutor, if you have any ideas please help..thnx your friend Duane

Re: I'm at a stand still (stuck)
It pobably has no primary ignition current. The coil needs 12V (if HEI) or 8V if points, when you leave the key in the "run" postion. In the "start" position, there's a "bypass" built into the wiring, where the ignition gets 12V from the starter itself. Once you let go, it stops. Find a "switched" 12V source in the fuse block and run that directly to the "bat" terminal on the distributor. If it runs after that, we got it right!
