Upper Intake Coolant Leak
I have a 99 lesabre and I have noticed it is slowly leaking coolant from the gasket on the upper intake near the thermostat housing. It's not getting any coolant into the engine or oil. I'm loosing about a cup to a pint of coolant a week in the overflow reservoir is going low. I put gasket sealer on the thermostat housing so that is not the problem.
What do you guys think I should do? Replace the upper intake manifold including the lower intake gaskets? Just replace the gaskets? Use bar leaks? hehe |

Re: Upper Intake Coolant Leak
hello, forget the bars leak best thing to do is find the leak.if you can get a pressure tester this would help alot if not run the car until normal temp. & then start looking as this will put the system under its own pressure. Good Luck!!

Re: Upper Intake Coolant Leak
I'd pressure test and confirm the exact source of the leak, either way the upper intake is a time bomb, I would do it just to stay ahead, Dorman's kit is excellent. The lowers should not be a problem, but some people do them while they are down that far.

Re: Upper Intake Coolant Leak
Alright you talked some good sense into me. I will do the Dorman kit and leave the lowers alone.
