2003 ford focus ignition

I am in the middle of replacing the ignition in my 2003 Focus, only one problem.I bought a new ignition from Autozone and it came with 2 new transponder keys.Once installed it will turn the ignition over, allowing the lights ,radio and other bells and whistles to come on,but will not allow me to start the car. When I attempt it it just does nothing.I have been told that i need to take it to a dealer and let them do it,but they want to charge me over $100 to do so.I have laready spent $90 on the ignition and dont want to give the dealer 100 bucks to push a few buttons or turn the keys a certain way a few times.Does anyone know of the way to program the new transponder keys to my car to allow it to start and run?

Re: 2003 ford focus ignition

Sorry to say that you have no choice but to go to the dealer to code up the new keys. the equipment required to do so is very expensive. its easy to code a 3d key yourself with turning the ignition switch on and off 8 times and on the 8th time leave it in the on position however, this only works if you allready have 2 working keys sorry!
