Clutch fan question again.
Ok, so I bought a new replacement clutch fan but I can't get the original off... My crappy manual says to use GM special wrench or equivelent... I have a 1-3/8 to grab the sucker but how do I hold the water pump from turning... Please help...

Re: Clutch fan question again.
Welcome to AF, I used a very large pair of channel locks.

Re: Clutch fan question again.
Grabs the pulley and holds it, you can wedge a 3/8 extension into the pulley to brace it and turn the fan off, the channel locks can also work here. Look at the configuration and you will see where it can be used to stop or hold the pulley.

Re: Clutch fan question again.
Thanks to the guys who offered their help. Especially Maxwedge... The large channel locks worked perfectly.
By the way... The local GMC dealer wanted $461.00 plus 3 hrs labour at $73.00 per. I found it at a local parts dealer (one day to get it in) for $175.00 and installed it myself... Thanks again... Glenn |
