Newbie checking in
Newbie thinking about getting a Panoz GT for fun. Thanks in advance for all the information posted on the forum. I originally thought this would be a poor decision due to limited parts and expertise, but I can already tell that was incorrect. "Search" is a beautiful thing. The only question I have at this point is....at what point would you consider the number of hours on one of these cars to be excessive?
Thanks, Steve |

Re: Newbie checking in
I wanted a car with as low hours as possible. I got one with 240 on it. David's has over 900 and doesn't seem like it's a problem. With that said I would say stay below 1000. Most of the parts have probably been replaced at one time or another anyways so who's to say how many hours are on what.
A large majority of the parts are "universal" race car parts. They can be sourced from many suppliers. The body panels and front spindles are the only things that come to mind off the top of my head that are Panoz specific. Good luck on the search for a car. They are a blast to drive.

Re: Newbie checking in
These cars are a blast to drive. Took my car back to her home RA Monday. I turned 44s with 225 hp. The neat think about these cars is people think they are fast in the straights. I was behind an S2000 going onto the back straight. He gives me a point so I move over to pass he gives me another point my foots on the floor he gives me another point. He lifts and I go by.
Get one of these you won't be sorry. David |

Re: Newbie checking in
Thanks for the input. One reason I like these cars is their local flavor. RA is less than 2 hours away. Do the Panoz specific parts for these cars come out of Brazelton, GA?

Re: Newbie checking in
As Jim stated alot of the parts can be sourced from Speedway or other raceing sources. Alot of the suspention parts are from coleman.

To answer your question, yes, parts come out of the Panoz Engineering shop in GA. The guys there are very supportive. They can get you just about any part needed. There are other sources for parts in addition to the factory. David mentioned a couple. Gary Jones (Gary Jones Motor Sports) has a bunch of spares that he picked up with the cars he purchased. He posts here now and again.
