Re: 96 taurus

Which engine does your taurus have? What goal do you have in mind, HP for towing, HP for street fun, are you concerned about reliability? Would you consider getting rid of your Taurus and getting a '96 Taurus SHO?

Re: 96 taurus

My Taurus LX has a 3.0L Duratec DOHC Engine and im just looking for more hp for street fun. The reliability is good enough and if i had enough money mayb i would get a sho.

Re: 96 taurus

I'm not sure the transmission could handle much more power. The Taurus isn't really intended as a performance car, and therefore there are very little options for off-the-shelf aftermarket performance parts.

Don't waste your money on the "performance chips" sold on eBay. They just don't work. Also, a reuseable oiled air filter won't give you any appreciable HP increase, but will outlast your stock air filter. Just don't buy one thinking it's going to make the car faster.

I'm just not aware of really and bolt-ons that you can get for your Taurus. I suppose you can go the ricer route and add weight by installing ground effects, slow it down further with a large wing on the trunk, throw on a coffee can "fart pipe" muffler, then counteract all the added weight with "go fast" stickers and vinyl decals.

Re: 96 taurus

Cute, very cute Rod. You're in a mood. (Is this the same place you go when the whiny Ford bashers come out and you equate them to street corner soap boxers? I guess you don't like either. It seemed a bit harsh. Not all corner speakers have nothing worth listening to,... well, there has been an excess of political candidates out there lately. Whew!) Anyway, hoping you're still in such a good, whimsically cynical frame of mind, would you mind sharing your entertaining and unreserved thoughts on the Escort mods out there? :r ofl:

Then there's the pickup mods, liftkits, trucksicles, jumbo exhaust tubes coming through the bed......Aaaaah! GMAB!!

Re: 96 taurus

I was hoping to hear more of your telling, facetious sarcasm and tacit disdain of automotive vanity. But, when you didn't take the bait and respond, I thought you didn't appreciate my defense of street corner speakers and preachers. Now, I need to back up and set things straight that you said "protestors." There are lots of kinds of protestors, but you were just venting about whiny Ford haters and frivoulus protestors and their converts as all of limited use-value.

I'm sure you'd agree, Dr. King had a lot of worthy and intelligent converts.

Re: 96 taurus

Between power outtages here and helping with the flooding, I've been on reduced "Internet hours" and conserving where I respond, somewhat. As you've probably seen, my mood has been fluctuating too.
