Something To Be Concerned About?

My 1996 Tahoe 5.7 liter with 112,000 miles may have a coolant leak. The past 6 to 10 months, I've had to add about quart of 50/50 coolant in the radiator. Last week while snooping in the engine compartment, I notice a "slight" coolant seepage at the intake/engine block gasket area on the right side looking from the front. It's right to the left of the #8 intake bolt. I drained the oil and taken a quart to a engine expert who takes the old oil and tests it for antifreeze. Today, he tells me he didn't detect any coolant in the oil. Couple years ago I had a slight coolant leak at the base of the thermostat fitting. Tighten the two bolts cured this leak. I cannot find any other seepage around the radiator, heater hoses, or in the heater areas.

My question.... should have try tighten the instake manifold bolts, or just wait it out? Or spend the cash and have a new intate mainfold gasket replacement?

Today, I did notice my "oil pressure" was at 60 lbs.(cold start) but, when the engine warmed up good, the oil pressure dropped below 40 lbs. when at idle.

Re: Something To Be Concerned About?

If you don't have the updated intake gaskets then the old ones should be replaced. Do a search on the Fel-Pro Intake Gaskets.
