ABS Light ON- How do I diagnose it?

95 Chev 2500 4x4 454cu in. I just bought this truck and the ABS light is on. The brakes seem to work just fine. I just don't like the light being on and I would like to know what are the steps to identify why the light is on?
Thanks

Jumper pin H and pin a on the diagnostic connector and count flashes on abs/brake brake light.
Separate the longs and shorts and post back flashes.
Or a ABS brake capable scanner will give codes and sometimes read out sensors.

Re: ABS Light ON- How do I diagnose it?

Another option, at least on my 1998 k1500 is too check the fuse box under the hood. Mine is on the driver side wheel well. My abs light is actually on now, because I pulled the fuse out of the box. My wheel sensor is bad and it kicks on the abs when rolling extremely slow up to a stop sign, etc. Even when its perfectly dry. Possible the previous owner did the same thing I did. Just to let you know the brakes on mine work fine also, I just don't have abs anymore. Good luck.

ABS brakes are a saftey feature and saftey equipment.
They should never be bypased or disabled.
The life they save may be your own.

Make sure to check your brake fluid level as well.
