2002 Monte Carlo Trunk Opens when i start car?

Hey I'm fairly new to checking out cars, but i've had my 2002 monte carlo SS for over a year now and haven't had any problems with it and have taken great care of it. Recently when i've started my car and also sometimes when i shut my car off the trunk will open. This causes a problem because my battery dies and i'm stuck where i'm at. Also the traction control flickers on and off very quickly while i'm driving it at times. And tonight when i was driving it at night the lights where flashing and the traction control was flickering on and off again. The Trunk Open signal is usually flashing on my dash even when the trunk is not open. I figured it was something to do with the electrical wires so I checked them, but couldn't find anything wrong there. Does anyone know how i can fix them I'm a college student and rely on my car alot.

Thanks to all who can help!!!!!

The basic wiring will be the same as for the Lumina etc.

It does sound like a short, perhaps the trunk wiring is being pinched somewhere, or grounded.

Start with the actual trunk popping switch. If it is broken inside, it could be shorted and causing a drain on the battery. Then follow the wires to other potential places for a short or leak to ground.
