Broken bolt hole where starter mounts

Hello everyone I think I'm going to have to get a new block, but if anyone has ever seen this problem and knows a way to fix it please reply. 2000 blazer 4.3l 2wd. Outside, closest to the wheel, the bolt hole where the starter mounts is broken. Starter bolt won't go in so I can't tighten up the starter. the whole side of the block where that bolt hole is, Is cracked off. In other words I have about 1/2 of a bolt hole left. If your looking at it though the wheel well you can see the bolt where that 1/2 is missing. Hope this explains what I'm talking about.

Re: Broken bolt hole where starter mounts

If you still have a 1/2 of hole left and the threads are still good in what hole is left.
I would try to get a bolt that will reach what threads is left there.
As a last resort.
Drill all of the way threw if it is the outer hole and use a bolt and nut to tighten it down.
Just do not overkill tighting it and break the rest of block corner off.

When mounting starter get the inside bolt good and tight first.
So it will carry most of the load.
Then try to get a bolt or a bolt and nut on the outside.

Good Luck

In this case, I would try to use liquid metal, or metal epoxy to get that broken piece back on. That stuff is extremely hard and durable, so it would most likly work in this problem.

Install a heli-coil then weld the exposed outside half of helicoil.
