Blinking External Temperature Display & No A/C 93' ssei

My 93' Bonneville ssei External Temperature Display on the climate control panel blinks and the AC does not seem to work. All of the vents blow air but the AC compressor does not seem to turn on when the AC has been selected. I am looking for ideas as to what the cause of the problem could be.

Dear Josh22:

Do the A/C self test and look for the codes that will appear in your A/C display. By memory I know that the 66 code means the LOW FREON that block the compressor to engage. Good luck.

Thanks for the info Malachias. I have pulled codes from the ECM before for a blinking Service Engine Now light but never for the AC. How do I pull the codes for the AC ?

Since you already know the compressor is disabled- then go ahead and disconnect battery for 10 sec- this resets the code- and enables compressor-- now you need to add refrigerant-- and find and fix your leak first.....

Thanks brcidd. Yes the compressor is not engaging and my initial thought was low refridgerant. I was leaping toward another cause in that I had the AC system updated a little over a year ago from freon to the current refridgerant system and was ruling out a leak. Since it was a loose compression fitting that caused the initial leak leading me to update the AC. I guess I assumed everything would stay tight and leak proof.

Those compressor shaft seals and evaporator cores are known to leak on your car- have fixed a bunch of them.....

Dear Josh22: as your request:

A/C self test

1- Turn the ignition on/push together the off button and warmer. Hold for a few seconds.
2- The codes will apper at the display
Codes meaning

00 no codes present
10 110 Ambient temp sensor circuit open or shorted
13 113 In vehicle temp sender open or shorted
15 115 solar circuit open or shorted
35 135 Data line failure
38 138 Serial data line failure with PCM
40 140 Air mix door open or shorted
48 148 Long term Freon loss
52 152 Keep alive memory lost
66 166 Low freon

Obs: A # 1 prefix on any code indicates a history codes

Malachias and friends. Checked code and sure enough it was 66- low freon. I had the system leak checked and turned up to be very minor leaks. Had system evacuated and recharged with new 134 refrigerant. Blowing cold air.
