Lookin at a 91 RS

Hey everyone, it's been months and months, maybe even a year or 2 since I've posted. I'm currently looking at a 91 RS 5spd, wondering about the ups and downs of these cars, general maintenance costs, good and bad points, etc. Let me know what you think.

Re: Lookin at a 91 RS

I have a 91 camaro RS, the six cylinder engine was unbreakable...I used to punish it alot and it never left me stranded but ofcourse I kept it well maintained. I changed the transmission fluid every 15,000 miles. I used synthetic oil every 3,000 miles and I did a complete tune up regularly which consisted of a pcv valve, spark plug wires, platinum plugs (good for almost 90,000 miles sometimes), cap and rotor, air filter, gas filter and rear axle oil changes every 15,000 miles. The only down side is the alternator...It is the only weak link. Look into getting a high performance version from summitquest...it might be worth the investment especially if u dont want to keep taking it out all the time. I think mine konked out every summer but then again I used to have a sound system in mine...I had the lifetime warranty from Advance auto parts. I was unsatisfied with the power from the v6 so I put another engine in it. You know us guys were never satisfied lol so if you're looking for a reasonably reliable car and it doesnt have crazy mileage on it then u've found it.

Re: Lookin at a 91 RS

Looks like my plans are a bit delayed, but possibly in a month or 2. It's a rebuilt engine, the current owner is a hobbyist, restores old cars in my area and was going to give this one to his son, but his sons grades were slipping, so it's now on the market. I won't even be going to look at it until things straighten out and I can buy, and just my luck it would already be gone by then. If things work out, I'll take my mechanic friend with me, lol no one takes females seriously when they want to get underneath and look things over. I'll keep y'all posted!

Re: Lookin at a 91 RS

Lol ok, I know I just posted a couple hours ago, but I remember ages ago I used to have a great link to the complete specs for my old Prelude, I was wondering if you might know of one for the Camaro... I'm also requesting the VIN from the seller, which I'll post up if someone wouldn't mind running it for me... and thanks for the rim suggestion chevyrulespops, very nice, very clean, I like.
