Question 03' TC remove radio/cd

I want to replace my radio. Can someone tell me how to remove the dash cover?? I have removed the two screws above the instrument cluster. What are the next steps to expose the radio/cd for removal??? I believe there are some retaining clips, but I don't know where to pry. I can't find other screws to remove.

Re: 03' TC remove radio/cd

Why would you want to do this for?
Is your system broke?

On a 1995 TC,you need to have a special tools for removal.

They look almost like two horse shoe shaped connectors that plug + pull
the system out from the frnt.

Check for the tool holes on your radio.. if you see holes get the tools, their about $4 or $5 bucks at the Autozone.

Insert the tools till you feel a slight locking <click> then pry them slightly outward at the point of your fingers/thumbs while pulling the radio toward you..

Many THANKS to photo contributors

Hey Towncar!
I noticed your radio was on 91.7,do you like country?
Wasn't sure if the newer TC's were using the same tools.
He was trying to put some Disco lights in the Dash + I didn't want to be a part of that project.
I knew this technican for years and he had a mullet hair due,he was caught between Disco + kid
Rock era. ''I think he got his degree in prison''

Smile Re: 03' TC remove radio/cd

Thanks for the responses. Before the '03, I had a '96 TC (best and most comfortable car ever) and removed the radio for repairs two times using a long thin screwdriver in the release holes. The '03 is different. The radio/ac console is surrounded by a two piece bezel that has to come off before the radio can be pulled out of the dash. Help still needed!!

Not my radio.. just something I found on Google for illustration purposes. No, I don't 'like' country music... I do tolerate just about anything though.

Thumbs up Re: 03' TC remove radio/cd

Thanks Towncar for the additional info. The shop manual must assume one knows how to release the retainers. I know on my '96 and old Ranger I sometime thought what I was removing would break before the release clips came free. I will start prying in the indicated location on the far left of the dash, but I know there must be others closer and to the right of the radio. Anyway, I'll give it a go and hope for the best.

I will repair the radio, if I can get it out and its repairable. I know how. This radio has been lousy since new. Steadly reducing reception range until it finally quit. But I have another one I can put in, if necessary. Don't know about ebay or after market repair info. ??

Re: 03' TC remove radio/cd

I did replace a push button on/off switch in a 95 TC.It was easy,but
hard finding the part.

Is the antenna for a 03 TC in the rear window?
Thats a long travel for a radio! (Conn, noise, and shorts)

Thats a big enough hole for a TV,GPS,and radio!

How about a audio, video, media,GPS ,and internet on demand.

We can take some Mighty puddey + mount your Lap top to the dash.

You could have more shit than the Kight Rider ''KITT''
