1997 driver door wont open from inside

Feels like something broke in the latching mechanism. Anybody know what the weakest link is? Works fine from the outside.

Child safety locks turned on, maybe (did they have those in 97's)? I only thought of that because mine were on the other day and my passenger couldn't get out himself.

Thanks for the reply, those are on the back doors. I actually felt something give the last time the door opened.

The lever has a pivot point between the handle and the cable that connects to the latching mechanism. The cheap plastic piece cracked in half. I just put some JB weld on it and hope it gets me to the weekend when I have the time to replace the assembly.

Ok, JB weld didn't hold it.

The part is a dealer item number 8-97150-647-3 LEVER ASM INSIDE (color) $18.10 + tax. I had to remove the door panel to access the actuator arm that connects to the lever. Total time less then 45 min. Small and med phillips and a small flat to pop out the trim covers on the lower half of the door. Simple job
